Had a great time up north in Eau Claire, WI during the last 2 weeks of August wile working on the new Luray record at Hive Studio with Brian Joseph.  While Brian has worked on a wide variety of projects (Local Natives, Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens), it was quite a pleasure to be the first band to record in his newly completed Hive Studio.  It provided the ideal setting to focus in and work on recording a record. It was definitely a treat to collaborate with Sean Carey as well, who is producing the record.  While in Wisconsin, we also played a folk festival in La Crosse  that was a blast as well.  Such a nice setting there on the Mississippi River...

Had a wonderful time working with Sarah Gilberg up at Bias Studio (Springfield, VA) on her new record.  Bias is a beautiful studio, and it was a pleasure to work in that environment with such great musicians! 

On Tuesday, February 24th, B-Snaptet performed on RVA's CBS6 Virginia This Morning to promote our upcoming record release shows.  Catch both "Side Steppin'" & Sandcastle Man below!!

Good times were had over the weekend of March 1st and 2nd down at Minimum Wage Studios in RVA!!  I was so glad to be able to lay down our original tunes with B-Snap-tet before Brendan (sax) headed off for some cruise work before grad-school.  It was great to have the help of Lance Koehler manning the boards and keeping everything running smoother than ever!!  We'll be playing a few gigs in April in RVA, check out the gigs page for more info.  Here's a taste of one of our new tunes we just laid down, from a gig at Bogart's 

Fado Nosso is excited to announce the release of our self titled debut album!  I am grateful for the opportunity I had to play upright on a few tunes and help produce the album.  It was a wonderful experience to dive into an entirely new world of music that I had net yet explored.  Please join us and contact me with any additional questions. 

To cap off the first month of 2013, Luray hit the road for a quick three day tour to the northeast, playing in NYC, Northampton Mass. & Washington DC.  We had a wonderful time, and look forward to returning soon!  

Luray had a great show last Saturday playing with the Justin Jones Band & Vagabond Union at The Rock & Roll Hotel in DC.  Keep an eye out in 2013 for the release of their debut album, The Wilder.

Luray is banjo-inspired indie rock fused with classic country and folk, created and performed by Shannon Carey. With production help from her brother Sean Carey (of S. Carey and Bon Iver), Luray's soon-to-debut album creates strange and lovely bedfellows of different genres. Banjos, vibes, pedal steel, and ambient vocals make up this bluegrass-trained songwriter's new and vibrant approach to making music, and the end result is somewhere between Iron & Wine and Emmylou Harris.

Luray is based in Washington, DC. Live, Shannon Carey is joined by Sarah Gilberg on vocals and keyboard, Gabriel Wisniewski on guitar, CJ Wolfe on drums, and Brian Cruse on bass.

Impulse Control, a new piece composed for quux quartet will be premiered at VCU on Saturday November 3rd.  The piece, which was commissioned by the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition at Brigham Young University was written by Peter Van Zandt Lane for soprano sax, bassoon, electric bass, percussion and soundtrack.  For more information, visit www.quuxquartet.com

Marionette took another step forward in completing their latest album and recorded new audio tracks as well as video footage.  With the help of Allen Bergendahl from Viking Recording, Marionette was able to get great live takes of their new music while in the spacious sounding workshop/garage of Scoot Richmond.   Check out one of Marionette's other newest songs in the mean time - Prize Fighter 

It's official, Brian and the JSmith Trio have wrapped things up at Minimum Wage Studios and the recording for Brian's debut album is complete.  It features Justin Smith (guitar) & C.J. Wolfe (drums).  The recording includes original compositions by all 3 band members & will be released later this year.  More updates soon!
